College History
This college was started in the year 1965 with the aspiration of giving opportunity for the people of Dharmapuri district to pursue higher education. Initially our college started with three courses, Gradually different Under Graduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG), and Research courses were started. The college was accredited by the University Grants Commission in 1965 under 2f and 12B. From 1-11-1974 the college has been functioning in a permanent building with 42 acres 12 cent of land under the Thadangam Panchayat.
The college, which was started for boys students, is also enrolling girls students from 1977-78. From 1965 the college was first accredited by the University of Chennai and has been functioning under the accreditation of Periyar University since 1998-99. in 2005, Our college is accredited with B grade in NAAC 1st Cycle. Now, Our college is accredited with B++ grade in the NAAC 2nd Cycle from April 2017.
Under Graduate and postgraduate classes conducted on the basis of self-financing has been converted into government courses. The Government of Tamil Nadu has upgraded the college as first grade college from 20.03.2008. M.Phil., and Ph.D Research courses were started from the academic year 2012-13.
